Powerful Mets Offense Win Again The Mets scored 29 runs against the Dukes of the MABL in a win at Ft. Marcy Stadium on April 27, 2008. After the smoke cleared, five home runs were hit including two grand slams by Bret Helenius and Andres Duran. Scott Ferran went deep for the Amazin's and Darrick Schultz did it twice. Barry Keiss got the pitching win. Mets top Powerhouse Brewers The Mets faced former Mets pitcher Rod Tafoya in a close fought battle against the Brewers of the MABL. The Mets came out on top 8-6 as Justin Munoz recorded his second win with 7 IP, 9K, 1 ER. Scott Ferran went deep as Walter Perea hit a triple and went 2-3. Bret Helenius hit the go ahead RBI in the seventh inning while Alex Garcia collected two RBI. Mets Get First Win Of the '08 Season The New Mexico Mets notched the first win of the season topping the MSBL Rangers 8-1 in a wood bat interleague game. Justin Munoz got the win with strong pitching performances by Barry Keiss and Bret Helenius. Darrick Schultz led the hitting bregade going 3-4 on the day. Rematch of 2007 Championship Finds A's On Top The Mets began their 2008 campaign with a loss to the Athletics in a close 7-5 game. The A's got out of the gate early scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Mark Wallace hit a triple more Mets Sign New Faces The Mets picked up some much needed pop in the lineup. Mark Wallace, Jeff Arellano, Cade Wormington and Issac Montross all signed with the New Mexico Mets more Germaine Casey Inducted into MSBL Hall of Fame New Mexico Met Germaine Casey, who passed away in August, 2007 while on a presidentail detail, was inducted into the MSBL National Hall of Fame during the 2008 World Series in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mets come up short in title defense against MABL A's The New Mexico Mets came up short in their repeat bid agains the Athletics of the MABL. The Final score was 11-10 and had an exciting finish as Darrick Schultz hit a homerun to right field in the bottom of the 10th inning. That was where the Mets rally fell short, as the A's recorded the final out to be crowned the new champs. |
